Fall River / Waverley, Nova Scotia Recreation and Leisure
There is lots to do in the Fall River / Waverley area. There are so many
lakes, beaches, parks and open space that outdoor sports are very popular.
Every kind of boating is seen on the lakes in summer from power boating,
sailing, jet skis and more. Water skiing is very popular in the area.
There are several public boat launches in the area so public access to
the lakes is not a problem. Competitive aquatic sports such as kayaking
and canoeing can be found at the Cheema
Aquatic Club in Waverley. This well established and successful club
has a two storey clubhouse, weight room and more. Anyone can join this
club and receive instruction at any level.
There is excellent swimming in the Fall River/Waverley area with several
public beaches to enjoy. There are several parks in the area with the
two largest being Laurie Park and Oakfield Park. Laurie Park offers walking
trails, picnic park public campground and more. Oakfield has an excellent
supervised beach, picnic park and boat launch and more.
In 2008 a rec center opened in Fall River called Gordon R. Snow Community
Center. This facility has double gym, outdoor 
skateboard,
outdoor theater, meeting rooms and more It also houses a the area's fire
station. Recreation programs are offered 
here
through Halifax Recreation which also runs programs in the community schools
in the area.
Golf is a popular passtime in the area which has two 18 hole Championship
golf courses. Ashburn and Oakfield Golf clubs are two of the best in Nova
Scotia. Both offer yearly memberships as well as green fee play, usually
with a member.
There are excellent sports facilities within a short drive of the area.
Indoor swimming and recreation can be found in Sackville at the Sackville
Sports Stadium or in Dartmouth at Cole Harbour Place or Dartmouth Sportsplex.
If movies are something you enjoy there are large movie complexes in Sackville
at Downsview Mall or Dartmouth at Dartmouth crossing. Both less than 15
minutes drive away.
There isn't much local shopping in the area but there is excellent shopping
a short drive away at Dartmouth Crossing, Bayer's Lake Park or the many
shopping malls throughout metro.
Fall River / Waverley offers excellent recreation leisure activities.
You can either find it in the community or a short drive away.
