Overview of Fall River, Nova Scotia
The Community of Fall River /Waverly is part of The Halifax Regional Municipality,
which is the
capital of Nova Scotia. It is community of large lots and wide open spaces.
A series of interconnecting lakes in the community make it excellent for
enjoying water sports. The area is a mixture of older and newer areas and
housing. A popular community and one considered a nice place to make home.
LOCATION
Fall River is well located.Most travel is taken on the Transcananda Hwy.
#102 which is well maintained divided highway. Bedford
and Sackville are
only 10 minutes away. Halifax and Dartmouth are 20-30 minutes away.
The Halifax International Airport is about 10-15 minutes away. Both Halifax
and Dartmouth can be reached without crossing the bridges.
AMENITIES 
Fall River has some amenities. There is a medium size strip mall, Fall
River Shopping Plaza, that houses a major grocery store (Sobeys),
a doctor's office, several smaller stores and restaurants. There are other
smaller stores in the community so getting your day to day supplies is
not a problem. Major shopping is a short drive away in either Bedford,
Halifax or Dartmouth. There are several parks in the area including Laurie
Park and Oakfield Parks that are located in Grand Lake, a few minutes
drive away. If you live in certain areas in Fall River you have access
to a private park called Windsor
Junction Community Center which has a private sandy beach, two basebal
fields and a small community building. This park is patrolled by commissionairs
who make sure only residents of the area use the park. There are also
two of the best golf courses in the metro area located closeby. Ashburn
and Oakfield Golf
Courses are two of the best anywhere.
HOUSING
Fall River has most types of housing and a variety of lots types. Houses
from $80,000 to $1,000,000 can be found in the community. Lakefront houses
are plentiful but not cheap. A lakefront house in the area which usually
exceed $300,000 and can go a lot higher. There are new homes and older
homes. There are several major subdivisions including Swartzwald, Fall
River Village, Capilano Estates, Fall River Resort Estates, St. Andrew's
Village and others. Lots are generally unserviced and have wells and septic
fields. Capilano Estates and some phases of Fall River Village do have
municipal water but also use septic fields. Lots range from half an acre
to 2 acres in general.
SCHOOLS
