Timberlea is an affordable residential area on the fringe of Halifax. It is located off exit 3 of the #103 Hwy on the St. Margaret's Bay Road , just past Bayers Lake Park. It is a good commute to Halifax of about 20 minutes. It is very close to excellent shopping in Bayers Lake. It has become one of metros most popular residential communities. There is a reasonable size lake, Governor's Lake in the area where swimming and boating can be enjoyed in summer and some skating in winter.
Like many areas described in real estate several different communities are all referred to as one. Beechville, Lakeside and Timberlea, although three different areas, are often all called Timberlea.
Timberlea is growing and with it so are the amenities. A beautiful new school was recently built in Beechville in Beechville Estates. Ridgecliff Middle School is one of the nicest school facilities found anywhere. A new subdivision, Beechville Estates is rapidly being built next to new school. New housing is currently available in this area. There is a wide range of housing available in the area. There is everything from affordable semi-detached to some larger executive type homes. New homes are also available in the area. There are several excellent subdivisions in the area such as Glengarry Estates, Timberlea Village, Greenwood Heights, Governor's Glen, Beechtree Run ( where new middle school is located).See Timberlea Map.
