Bedford has several good locations
for shopping. There are two medium size shopping malls in Bedford itself, Sunnyside Mall and Bedford Place Mall, several strip malls with shops and services and many larger malls and specialty stores within a 15 minute drive from Bedford. The Sunnyside Mall in Bedford is considered a higher end shopping center where you can find more brand name items and designer clothes. It's anchor stores are Canadian Tire, Lawton's Drug Store, Mark's Work Warehouse and Pete's Frooteque. The Bedford Place Mall has over 50 shops and services and provides several quality shopping destinations. The anchor stores at Bedford Place are Zellers,Atlantic Superstore( Loblaws), Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama and the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. Between the two malls most of your shopping needs can be met. Bedford Commons ( also known as North Gate Power Center) is a shopping area which began development in Bedford in 2006.
As of October 2008 there was a Walmart, Tip Top/George Richards, Future
Shop, Reitmans and Tim Hortons as well as other smaller stores. Several
other stores, including Canadian Tire and Home Depot are planned for the
siteFor grocery items there are two grocery stores. Sobeys and Atlantic Superstore grocery stores are both modern stores with excellent quality and variety of food and other items. There are also specialty food stores that are very popular such as Pete's Frooteque, which has the possibly the best selection of fruit and vegetables in Nova Scotia. The owner Pete Luckette is a regular on several television shows in the area. Pete's is open on Sunday and has become a popular Sunday shopping destination for people from all over metro. A
10 minute drive from Bedford you will find Bayer's Lake Business Park
in Halifax where the big " box " stores such as Costco, Business Depot,
Future Shop, Winners, Walmart, Home Depot and many others are located.
This is a popular shopping location. Dartmouth Crossing is also only a
10 minute drive from Bedford. Dartmouth Crossing will also have the big
box stores similar to Bayers Lake. Because the Halifax metro area is Nova Scotia's largest urban center it is also the regional shopping area. Bedford has most stores that will satisfy your everyday needs. There are several video stores including Blockbuster, at least 3 dry cleaners, two liquor stores, camera stores, 2 grocery stores, several clothing stores and much more.
