AVAILABLE HOUSE STYLES
IN SACKVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA

SEMI-DETACHED

Semi detached housing is quite popular in Sackville. Semi's as we refer to this style, are two homes attached to each other. Each home will have two storeys plus a full basement. There are usually three bedrooms and full bathroom on the top level. The main level will consist of a living room, dining room, kitchen and half bath. The basement can be either finished or unfinished. Often a garage will be located at this level.

BUNGALOW

A very popular style in Sackville is the bungalow style. This home would generally consist of a livingroom, diningroom, three bedrooms and a full bath on the top floor. The basements are usually finished and often contain a familyroom, a 4th bedroom, laundry area and a work/ storage area. Sizes vary form 26 x 36 to 28 x 44 usually.
SMALL LOT OR NARROW TWO STOREY

This style of home is a two storey but narrow in width. The reason for this is to be able to fit on a smaller or what is referred to an R0 lot. R0 lots are generally 30-35 feet wide and 100 feet deep. They are found in many of the newer subdivisions. This style of home will usually have 3 bedrooms and a bath on the top floor. The main floor will have kitchen, livingroom and diningroom. The basement can be finished or unfinished. The size of these homes varies but usually 20 feet wide by 34 feet deep would be average.

SPLIT ENTRY

Split entry homes are found in most subdivisions in Sackville. A split entry is much like a bungalow with one distinct advantage. The basement in a bungalow is 8 ft of concrete with smaller windows. In a split entry there is 4 ft. of concrete and the remainder of the wall is wood, which allows for much larger windows. A typical split entry will have a living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen, three bedrooms and one full bathroom on the top floor. The lower level will contain a larger family room, a fourth bedroom, laundry room, half bath and often a basement garage.
NEW STYLE SPLIT ENTRY

This style house is very popular. It is fairly new style with builders onl;y starting to build these in mid to late 1990's. This is a two level home like the traditional split with one difference, the bedrooms are located in the basement. Typical layout would have a kitchen, dining area and livingroom and maybe a bathroom upstairs. The downstairs would have two or three bedrooms, full bathroom, laundry and storage.

SIDE SPLIT

The side split style is not that common in Sackville but there are still many homes of this style in Sackville. The side split style is much like it sounds. It is split on the side usually into 4 different levels. The typical layout will have a living room , dining room and eat-in kitchen on the main level. Three bedrooms and bath are found on the top level. The level below the kitchen level will have a family room, possibly a bedroom and a half bath. The fourth level is usually the entrance level and will be mainly the entrance foyer and garage.

FULL SIZE TWO STOREY

A two storey is not that common in Sackville. The sizes vary considerably throughout the area. The layout is fairly standard. The main level will have a kitchen, living room, dining room, family room, half bath and garage. The upper level has three or four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The basement is often not finished but finished basements are very common.
MOBILE HOME

Mobile homes are very popular in the Sackville area. There are 3 major mobile home parks that house over 2,000 mobile homes. A mobile home usually consists of three bedrooms, a livingroom and a bathroom. There is no foundation under the home. They are called mobile because they are just that. Basically a mobile home can be moved, not easily, from one location to another. Owners pay a monthly lot rent fee to the owners of the park they are located in.
